Saw a bumper sticker this morning that said:
“Speed on brother, Hell is not full yet”

Obviously the owner of the car is a Christian, the fact that they had other stickers on the car (like the sticker of FM 103.2 – a Christian radio). The first thing that came into my head was, what the? why would you say that? The way the saying is worded is almost as if they are saying, “go on speed all you want, I don’t care cos you’re going to Hell”.

Now I’m not trying to attack whoever made the bumper sticker, but I think it can be misleading. I don’t think this is the way Jesus would want us to live. We can’t have an attitude of “I don’t care if other people go to hell”. Instead we should be showing love and compassion to the lost souls, Jesus came to heal the sick and not for the healthy.

We should not be like the pharisees, who thought they were better than others and prayed like this:
“Oh, God, I thank you that I am not like other people–robbers, crooks, adulterers, or, heaven forbid, like this tax man. I fast twice a week and tithe on all my income.”

However the truth is, we are all sinners:
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” – Romans 3:23

Instead we need to always be seeking for God’s mercy and grace, as a sinner:
“God, give mercy. Forgive me, a sinner.”

This is what Christianity is all about. It’s about recognising that you are a sinner and that we need God to fix us.
