The Great Salvation

“For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,” – Hebrews 2:2-3

In verse 2 it talks about the just reward. Everything we do has a consequence, doing the wrong of course would lead to punishment. For example if you were to be caught speeding you would get a fine. So it is with our lives, when we don’t live our lives right before the Lord, we sin. The punishment of sin is death. However there is a way out, an escape route and this is the only way out.

Jesus came to earth to give us the great salvation, we cannot escape our punishment if we don’t take this salvation that is offered to us. There is no other way, Jesus is the only way out.

I’m glad God still forgives me for my sins even though I still stuff up many times. God will love you unconditionally, so no matter how bad you think you are or however many times you’ve stuffed up. God will still forgive you, all you have to do is receive Him and repent from sins.

Lord, I receive your salvation for my life, forgive me of all my sins and be the King of my life. Thank you Jesus, in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

In His Footsteps

Have you ever heard the phrase: “Following in his father’s footsteps”?
This is usually a flattering thing to be told of yourself (especially if your father is someone that is succesful). Did you know that when we became a Christian, God in heaven became our heavenly Father? And we are His children.

If sons (and daughters) on earth would follow in their father’s footsteps, we ought to be following the footsteps of our heavenly father. Why? Simply because you cannot go wrong. Our earthly fathers are just as human as we are and so they are prone to making mistakes. However our heavenly Father will never make mistakes. He wants you to follow Him so that He can show you the way, the truth and the life you were meant to live.

If you need a role model in your life, don’t settle for second best. Look to God, for only He is the perfect role model to follow.

Lord, I want to follow in your footsteps, to walk with you so that I may experience the fullness of life. I pray Lord that more and more people would also experience you in their lives. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Christian Living

A lot of non-Christians have the image that Christians are hypochrites. This is because far too many time they have seen it in their lives. As a Christian we need to make sure that we live according to the word of God and that our lives is not dictated by how we feel, but through obeying what God has called us to do.

When we go out and interact with people, they need to be able to see the impact God has done in our lives. We need to be bearing fruit or Jesus says in the parable of the vine, if any branch will not bear fruit it will be cut off.

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” – John 15:5

We cannot do it on our own, only through Jesus Christ can we live a holy and honourable life.

Lord strengthen me each day to live as you would have me live. I pray that I will live my life to be honourable and pleasing in your sight. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Welcome to 2007

Happy New Year everyone!

I believe this year God is going to do great and mighty things in my life and in yours as well, but only if you allow Him. When driving there are many paths and roads that lead to the same destination. God’s path is the long winded, scenic route drive, whereas we tend to choose the shortest possible distance.

Most of the time the shortest distance is not always the best, as it is the more popular path, there is a higher likelyhood of a traffic jam. Sometimes we think we are smarter than God and we just don’t understand why God would make us go the long way. It doesn’t make sense, but there is always a lesson behind it. We are put in certain situations so that we can learn from our experiences.

The second thing I’d like to bring up, is that God desires us to enjoy Him and spend time with Him. Most of the time we take the quickest way possible so that we can just get things done. This is how society is working these days, as the saying goes “time is money”. We need to be able to relax and take some time out to enjoy what God has created for us and also spend time with Him. By doing this we show our love for God. He’s given everything for you, we would be snobs if we didn’t even spend a few minutes with Him.

Thank you Lord that you have the best way for me in my life. I pray Lord that you would lead me this year and forgive me Lord for the times where I have disobeyed you. Help me to see things your way. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
