Being a Rebel

Why do kids rebel against their parents or teachers? Usually it’s because they want to be different, they want to have their own identity. Guess what? by rebelling, they have conformed to the world’s standards. To be truly against the flow, we need to look at how Jesus lived his life.

“To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either.” – Luke 6:29

What he says is Luke 6 is not an easy thing to swallow. Jesus is totally against the grain of the world. This is what being different means, to be different means we go against what the world says we should do. Rather than revenge, we should love our enemies, give and don’t expect anything back. This is what Christianity is all about, it’s about going against worldly standards and living up to the high standards set by God.

Lord help me to be different, change my heart so that I may be obedient to your word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
