“Be diligent to know the state of your flocks,
And attend to your herds;
For riches are not forever,
Nor does a crown endure to all generations.” – Proverbs 27:23-24
We need to know the state of the things that we have, so this may include money, time, possessions. We need to be wise to be able to manage our finances, time and other things, so that we don’t run into problems. Basically we need to learn to plan things out, rather than just go with the excuse that “God will provide”. Sure God will provide, but we need to be doing our part as well and not be lazy.
Planning may include building a budget so that you know what you are spending and what you are receiving, and plan it out so that you don’t over spend and you are able to pay your bills on time. By planning for the worst, will allow us to always be ready to attend to whatever problems may arise. It could be that your computer’s hard drive suddenly fails and you need to go out to buy a new one. Whatever it is you can rest assured that you are ready.
Although we plan our time and finances, our finances will not last forever. So we cannot make the mistake of depending on our finances more than we depend on God. You cannot assume that if you are well off with finances, that all your generations will be ok. Things happen, according to the will of God, there is no coincidence.
