As the leaders of our youth group prepare for the next coming weeks, we are taking some time to reflect on what it means to be a youth leader. Here are some points that I’ve come up with so far:
- A youth leader prays in preparation for each service
- A youth leader is the first to show up and last to leave
- A youth leader looks out for the best interests of the youth
- A youth leader encourages and edifies the youth
- A youth leader prays for those in need
- A youth leader communicates to the youth (and parents) effectively
- A youth leader knows the program for each service
- A youth leader takes initiative when something needs to be done
- A youth leader directs the youth towards the vision
- A youth leader follows the standard we expect the youth to live by
- A youth leader is accessible
I know some of these are quite broad and I’m sure there are other points. Feel free to comment on what your thoughts are.
